Default Linguistic Course outline

Hi,

While teaching linguistics, what are the most important areas that should be covered? I have to teach this course to BA (Hons) students.

Moreover, I am facing some difficulty in selecting books. Can anybody help me in this regard.

Thanks

How long is the course? Is it an introduction or is it more?
