Default california english

Hello!!
Could you please help me out in gathering information on the features of california english (syntax, lexical, grammatical)?
I have to do a research about it and i haven't found material enough...
Would you please tell me some words that from calfornia english have passed into national use (thanks to movies, music, tv...) as well?
For example the term "awesome" is used all over the USA while before was restricted to California.
I would appreciate it very much!!
Thanks in advance!!

Not being an American speaker, I haven't commented before, but the use of 'awesome' has spread beyong the US to the UK, though it isn't used so commonly.
