Seek help! Linguistic research

Hi )
I'm a student from Moscow, English majors, in the middle of linguistic research at my university. Need help. I seek several native speakers of English to fill in one short test. Your help would be invaluable. I can't do it myself, 'cause only native speakers possess the needed sense of the 'mother' language.

I looked at it and am not sure it's displaying correctly- some of the alternatives appear to be identical and the dollar sign is confusingly displayed in code, which makes those sentences hard to read. Could you check it please? Also, please do not post the same thing multiple times, especially in threads where it is not relevant.

Example:
The Lancashire branch to Rawtenstall closed on 4 December 1980, with the Wallingford branch from Cholsey following on 31 May 1981.
