I have another questions about Descriptive Grammar ;)
1. What are phrase-makers?
2. Why should deixis be studied by pragmatics and not by semantics?
1. Can I write there about NP, VP, PP ? or it is something totally different?
2. No idea :oops:
Why are you asking these questions?
I would like to know something about it.

Yes and they are.
We had to work on them at home. That's why I wanted to ask experts.
(Yes, my teacher gave them to us) Because I was missing these 2 questions.
I think there is nothing wrong with it, they are question for a test as I said before but very simplified...
I'm studying " Teaching English";
As to your question on "Dexis", I'd like to explain the difference between semantics and pragmatics;
In semantics you understand what the words mean but in pragmatics you normally try to understand not only what the words mean, but what the speaker and writer of those words intended to convey. Therefor, the "intended speaker meaning" in pragmatics is important.
Please pay heed to the following sentence;
Mary speaks Germany but She is speaking English now.
Are you looking for "the meaning of WORDS" like she, and now? Your answer is definitely"No".
You are looking for "the INTENDED speaker meaning" that is, what a pronoun and time refer to?
Hope this helps,
