| I know how to pronounce spin and spinning for example, the i sounds like 'ee' not like 'ai', but I can't find the pronunciation of spinor on online dictionaries. By the way by the word spinor I mean the mathematical object which describes a Dirac particle for instantce, a 1 by 4 matrix (physics). |

| Thanks a lot Anglika, I had looked for it on the Merriam-Webster Learner's Dictionary, seems that the main Merriam-Webster has a different database. I didn't know that. By the way I can't understand how similar spelling words like 'spinor' and 'spine' can have such different pronounciations. Isn't there any rule regarding the 'i' pronouncing in English. I think I'll start another thread with this question. |
