MTI vs RLI

Hi,

We use the terms Mother Tongue Influence (MTI) and Regional Language Influence (RLI) amongst non native speakers of English to state the influence of first language on English pronunciation/sounds.

I would like to know, do these 2 terms refer to the same phenomenon or could be different?

I haven't heard these terms, but given that one's mother tongue is not necessarily one's regional language, I would say that they mean different things to those who use the terms.
If your native language was Gujurati, but you have lived most of your life in a predominantly Hindi speaking area, then your MT is not your RL.
