Pronunciation of "Last Year", "Next Year"

Hi All,

When I hear CNN or BBC news podcasts, I always hear the anchors who speak Last Year as "Las cheer" and Next Year "Nex cheer"....why they'd speak like this? I wanted to know if all native speakers would speak like this?....

William, If I may, I would like to say that paying attention to these details will not help you.

People don't speak deliberately, it's a thing you have to get used to.

Pay attention to the whole conversation, get the speaker's point.

last year = las +tyear = las cheer
last year = las + year = la sheer
yester day = yes day (syncopation)

Different phonological processes lead to different results. You can hear both of them. Read some works on "rule ordering in phonology"
