Hi all,
Sometimes when I hear native speakers say "Accept" and "Except",because they speak very fast...I think the pronunciation of these two words have no different...Could you please tell me how do I distinguish their pronunciations?
Regards,
WYH
You're right, we sometimes pronounce them the same unless aiming at clear, broadcaster's diction.
No, context allow us to see which is which. Except is used in the imperative mood, accept in the indicative, with a pronoun (I accept, you accept, we must accept...)
