For me, the U as in hut, nut, flood.
I've never heard anyone say "goopy" to refer to the fish. Goopy (the sound on food, rude) means it has a mix of solid and liquid.
How do you pronounce the word "guppy"?
Does the first part of this word "gup-" sound like american way of pronunciation of "yup"(informal yes),"nut"...
Or does it sound like "goofy"(Silly; ridiculous: a goofy hat),
Thanks in advance.

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
