I'm not sure of the aim of these files, but if they are intended to act as guidelines to American pronunciation, then I'd say that they don't do it very accurately. I'd like to know if you got what it said when listening to it for the forst time. If you did, then the speaker's aim is realized. Because the files just intended to make native English speakers get what the files said. As for the question that the files didn't sound like of a native speaker, it will be solved at next step. It needs time obviously.

I got that one. I'm not sure if I would have got the Graner one without the title because it is so context specific. I'm sorry, I thought they were intended to be examples of pronunciation. If there are any others of the Graner type, I'd like to try a blind test if possible.

I agree. It sounded like a robot. It didn't sound anything at all like AE pronunciation

I think it would also depend on the context in which the listener heard them. So far, I have seen fragments, but have had clues from the titles. I think nativce speakers' comprehension would be dependent on the context in which they were hearing the files.

The status bar of my browsers reported "Done" after I clicked the link you offered Tdol, leaving an empty page on the screen, but not "Forbidden" or "File not found". Really weird.

I have tried the link in different computers.
