Default Pronunciation of 'genuine'

I'm talking about the last syllable. I've always thought it's short '-in', but I've heard it pronounced as a diphtong '-ain' recently. Are both versions correct then?

Thanks in advance.

I've always used the first one and most Canadians do as well. As far as I know both pronunciations are fine. It's sort of becoming a little trendy word nowadays where people begin to put a different spin on its pronunciation. Perhaps they have nothing better to do.....?
