    Default Paw - /pɔː/

    paw - /pɔː/ Help me to understand it. Why in the transcription of the word "paw" the letter "W" does not appear?

    It doesn't appear because it's not there. The letter "w" is present for historical reasons but it's not pronounced.

    Take a look at the fifth row in the following table.
