Hi everyone,I'm a teacher in Israel, in the hebrew grammer the verb
"to be" doesn't exist, and I often find myself explaining it to the pupils,
but still, for some of them its more than difficult to understand.
I wonder if any of you guys from other countries have the same problem in your language.....?
Thanks for answering and sharring ideas![]()
I can't help you, but you might find something of interest in this thread:
Linking Verb or State of Being
It's interesting, Dorit. How do you explain it to them?
Maybe our Russian members could share their thoughts?
Hi Dorit!
I would stick to giving a rule that can easily be remembered, or telling a funny story that will cause students to remember HOW to use the verb to be rather than WHY, at this point. Perhaps the meaning will come with oral language proficiency over time...
