Hi, everybody.
I am interested in whether last r in the word followed by another word starting with vowel is pronounced or not. Like in a phrase "never eat".
I am confusing that because sometimes I do hear r but at the other times I don't.
Please, explain it.
Thanks in advance.
Some speakers reduce /r/ to schwa (the sound in the), which is when you don't hear it at all, others devoice /r/ (neverh eat), which is when it's hard to hear, and yet others maintain it across the word boundary in fast speech (never reat), which is when it's easy to hear.
Thanks for your reply, Lauralie.
As far as I understood I may use all the variants since English isn't my mother tongue. Its seems that the last variant is widely spread in US. Am I right?
