How to pronounce asks?
-
Re: Asks
/ɑ:sks/
It's not particularly easy to pronounce, and the /k/ may be quite lightly sounded. In what is considered by some to be 'uneducated' speech, the /k/ may be realised as /t/. Similarly, 'asked' may be realised as /ɑ:st/

Yes, and you will hear "ax" and "axed"(past) by AmE speakers.

asks /ęs:/ is not heard in BrE, although /ɑ:s:/ is possible.

Depends what you mean by 'educated'. Lindon Kwezi Johnson (sp?) does it, and he's British.

/ęsks/ for the accents unaffected by the trap-bath split, including, perhaps most notably, General American.
