Toe (like the ones on your feet) + ick (like 'sick')

thank you.

one more question: native speakers of english add a linking 'r' when a word finishes with a vowel and the other starts with a vowel, too.

e.g. asia apes

is it RP or informal ?

It's perfectly normal when connecting speech. In modern RP, you'l hear it used.

The linking "r" is common in non-rhotic accents (such as RP) but mainly when the last vowel in the first word is schwa (the unaccented vowel in "ago") or a diphthong that ends in schwa, such as the one at the end of "idea". Thus, we have "America(r) and Europe" or "the idea(r) of".
