    Default The pronunciation of the word "fountain"

    Hi,

    In the below exercise, the word fountain is placed under the/I/ sound, but it is pronounced like this /faʊntən/.

    Why is it placed under the     /I/ sound?

    The second syllable of fountain can be /I/or /ə/ or somewhere between.

    I'd always pronounce it with an /I/, never /faʊntən/
    (and I'm British, goddammit).
