Why don't you use Saeedi-Nia? We have hyphenated family names in English.
hi,
In my country my family name has a suffix.
I'd like to know should I write it together in my passport or put a space between them and how native people read that?
my family name is saeedi nia.
Should I write it Saeedinia or Saeedi Nia?
Why don't you use Saeedi-Nia? We have hyphenated family names in English.
Do you see them as one name or two? That would be the benchmark for me.
They are two, since women do not lose theirs when they marry (so there's no such thing as "maiden name" here)
Please be aware that I'm neither a native English speaker nor (at present) a teacher.
In that case, I would be tempted to use a hyphen.
I would use a hyphen if both of them are considered to be part of the family name. However, that does not go for Spanish names admittedly.
Remember - correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing make posts much easier to read.
If I were not sure in a situation like this, I would ask an official at the passposrt office.
