I've always seen it spelled "pukey" - that is, if I'm thinking of the same word that you are. I'm thinking of something that's nauseating or disgusting, something that makes you want to puke (vomit).

If that's the case, it's pronounced PYOO-kee. (Sounds like kewpie, as in kewpie doll.)
