| I'm new here. I am the mom of four boys. We have been having a debate for about two years now on how to pronouce the word "the" when followed by a vowel. I learned that it is pronounced with a long e sound when followed by a vowel as in "the end". Is this still true today? Thanks. Amber EMAIL REMOVED - Send PM to This User Instead |

| The "th" has 2 sounds: voiced and voiceless. In "think" is voiceless, while in "this" is voiced. In addition, "the" sounds as short e before consonant, and as short i before vowel. |
