There was a time when Old Testament names were very popular - Ahab, Bathsheba, Obadiah.... A few of the more familiar ones have stuck (Ruth, Simon), but most of the others survive chiefly in literature - if you say 'Ahab', most listeners will assume you're referring to Moby Dick

Would you know of a reliable site where I can HEAR British pronunciation (RP) by typing the words I need?

How do you pronounce the name of Shakespeare's wife "Anne HATHAWAY" and his best friend's "John DAVENANT", please?

Hi all i am a new member to this site and looking at the question regarding names, my advice would be to pronounce the name with emphasis on the capital or first letter, such as P in the name Paul try saying PPPPPPP HOPE THIS HELPS
