I've just realized that a well-known 'Two Ronnies' sketch involving a pun between 'four candles' and 'fork handles' demonstrates this. The buyer differentiated by making the /k/ fricative, and the shop-keeper didn't - by dropping the /h/.Quote:

The voiceless velar fricative (/x/ in IPA) and the voiceless uvular fricative (/χ/ in IPA) are distinct sounds. The "ch" in Scots English and German is velar. Oowekyala has both velar and uvular fricative phonemes.
