I saw "The Calcium Kid" (film with Orlando Bloom) the other day, and had it not been for the subtitles, I would have never guessed Jimmy's friend said "motivator"! Is it typical British to ignore the "t"? Otherwise, if I ever go to GB I won't get a thing! :cry:
Glottal stop "t" is increasingly common - but not well-regarded.
it refers to glottal stops. they're looked down upon as being common . you can hear them when natives say, for example, saturday, water or bottle. Instead of hearing the 't' you hear sa-er-day, war-er and boh-ull!!! hope this helps!! Daizee :-)
