the pronunciation of "thesis"
There was once an American pronounced right before me the word "thesis" in a way I never expected. Although he explained a bit by saying most Chinese pronounce it in the wrong way, I am still not sure how to pronounce it.
As I still could not mark the pronunciation by English letters and thus explain where the difference is, could anyone directly tell me the right American pronunciation of it? Great thanks!

Re: the pronunciation of "thesis"
Well, I haven't found what I have lost. ;-)
Is there another word with exactly the same meaning but has the pronunciation sounds like [di:θiѕ] or alike?
Thank you, and Happy New Year to all my mentors!

Re: the pronunciation of "thesis"
Thank you, Casiopea! If dissert is the word and ['di:sәt] or [di`sә:t] is the pronunciation, could I say something like "defend my dissert"? Could it be used as noun? I am asking cause I have the impression that the American said so.
Could anyone make some sentences for dissertation? Which is more popular in campus, thesis or dissertation?

Re: the pronunciation of "thesis"
To my knowledge, Emily, "dissertation" is the word, not dissert.
Chinese (Simplified): 论文;学术演讲
Chinese (Traditional): 論文;學術演講
Re: the pronunciation of "thesis"
Moreover, in Canada, thesis is for a master's degree; dissertation is for a doctorate. :-D The terminology varies: thesis = dissertation; dissertation = master's degree; thesis = doctorate.

It should be [θisɘs] rather than [di:θiѕ].
Dissertation is [dɪsr=teʃən]
