| As I still could not mark the pronunciation by English letters and thus explain where the difference is, could anyone directly tell me the right American pronunciation of it? Great thanks! Emily |

| Well, I haven't found what I have lost. Is there another word with exactly the same meaning but has the pronunciation sounds like [di:θiѕ] or alike? Thank you, and Happy New Year to all my mentors! Emily |

| Thank you, Casiopea! If dissert is the word and ['di:sәt] or [di`sә:t] is the pronunciation, could I say something like "defend my dissert"? Could it be used as noun? I am asking cause I have the impression that the American said so. Could anyone make some sentences for dissertation? Which is more popular in campus, thesis or dissertation? | To my knowledge, Emily, "dissertation" is the word, not dissert. Chinese (Simplified): 论文;学术演讲 Chinese (Traditional): 論文;學術演講 |

| Moreover, in Canada, thesis is for a master's degree; dissertation is for a doctorate. Last edited by Casiopea; 01-Jan-2007 at 05:37. |
