| Quite often on the news on the radio they pronounce the word "yers" instead of with the "ears" sound. It really is quite annoying! Hope someone can help? Matt |

| THe JONES' dictionnary proposes two forms [yie] and [yer] like in bird. |

| My (Canadian) dictionary says /ji:rZ/ (IPA symbols) where /i:/ is the long "e" sound. EPD lists US pronunciation as /jIrz/ where /I/ is short "i" sound. My pronunciation is closer to the US listing. |
