| The word on its own sounds the same as "four" [4]. But within a sentence, it becomes unstressed and can sound like "fur". It is difficult to say that it can only be pronounced in one way because of the way in which a person speaking quickly or naturally will slur words. Regional accents will also alter the sounds. |

| Was it an American website? In the States, you will hear it pronounced 'fer' wherever it comes in the sentence. In the UK, it's 'for'. |
