In the late '80s I worked in a department called the Wide Area Communications Environment. We pronounced the acronym to rhyme with "wacky" - I forget why!

Then why did you ask?
Would you ever scratch your head wondering how to pronounce words like race, pace, lace, etc?
Wace is an old Anglo-Saxon name still widely used in most English-speaking countries. I thought you knew..
I picked it because it's nice, short and simple. That's all.
