In the late '80s I worked in a department called the Wide Area Communications Environment. We pronounced the acronym to rhyme with "wacky" - I forget why!

WACE /weis/..... I honestly don't know what's so strange about it...
(Do I detect a tinge of irony in your question?)

    Default Wace

    Then why did you ask?
Would you ever scratch your head wondering how to pronounce words like race, pace, lace, etc?
Wace is an old Anglo-Saxon name still widely used in most English-speaking countries. I thought you knew..
I picked it because it's nice, short and simple. That's all.
    Cheers!
