Michael --British accent

I pronounce Michael as [maikl].

But in a British film, I heard a Briton pronounced 'Michael' as [ma:kl]. (I am not sure though I heard it time and again. My listening is not good.) Is it possible or usual?

How should I pronounce it in Queen's English? Thanks!

I think your first example is the correct one. There are different accents, but I can't say I've ever heard anyone pronounce it any way other than "Maikl"

Mi as in the word "my."
chael as in the word "cull."

To me, there's very little difference between the US pronounciation and any UK pronounciation I can think of.

There are regional variations in English pronounciation; 'mah kl' could be a northern, perhaps Yorkshire, accent.
