Using Adrian Underhill's chart - authentic...
Hello,
Using Adrian Underhill's phonemic chart, how would you write authentic in phonemics?
Kind regards,
Charde

/ɔ:'Ɵentɪk/ . Does he really call it his? It's just 44 symbols selected from the IPA, and optimized a bit to suit English (for example, /e/ - as pronounced in English - bears little relation to the cardinal [e]; it's just used here for typographic convenience).

Ah, I understand now - it's his chart (as you said), not his system (as I thought he was claiming).
His chart is better than the British Council one I've recommended in other threads, as it includes example words. It's a shame that it's hand-drawn though. It has a random scattering of capitals (PKVSZ), and some of the lower-case letters look distinctly uncomfortable!
