Latin there refers to the font, doesn't it?

Well, not exactly. ʊand υ are in the same font (Lucida Sans Unicode). You can't use υ to mean a short oo, no matter what font you use. ʊ and υ in TNR ʊ and υ in Arial ʊ and υ in Courier The waterpot is always Unicode 028A in any font. Latin refers to the symbol. The waterpot is called "Latin small letter upsilon", whether Latin has/had an upsilon or not. By the way, all these names can be found by opening Word/Insert Symbol, or referring to a Unicode chart.

Okay the Americans at ASCII have gone too far this time. You're right. But I meant that the styles, serifs and decorations of the letters are clearly Roman style, but that it's strange to call Greek letters Latin. I think I'll go and set up a British Chinese character set now. ;)
