Dear all,

What is the meaning of the expression: "When the circus comes to town"
in the song:

'Where is your heart at
'Nobody knows that
Even though you’ve him, her, me and an army searching.
'I’ve got a feeling
You will be reeling
When you are bad and the circus comes to town
'And you see me leaving Dressed up as a magician or something like that'

Thanks a lot.

Who knows.

Didn't we already discuss this many times -- that songs don't have to make much sense. Often they're just a bunch of random phrases that may or may not have some private meaning to the songwriter.

There is a romantic notion of leaving all your troubles behind and running away to join the circus. It is obviously easier to do this when the circus comes to your town.

I congratulate you on finding meaning in that. :-D
