Formal and informal letters

Hello .
I'm writing because I have to do an project for class, I have to write 2 letters: An informal letter and a formal letter.
I have to write the formal letter to a place where I would go to study English (abroad) and I don't know how to do it ...
The letters were only read by the teacher..

well, I want to ask (in the formal letter) to admit me in a school of britain, and I have to tell why I want them to admiss me.. I have something written, but I don't know if it's OK..
In the informal letter I would like to say thanks to my English teacher, because he is my friend, too, and he helps me a lot.
