English series

Could you recommend any series that would be comprehensible for somebody whose English is not very advanced? Preferably British English but it's not a must. I'll be glad to see any suggestions..

The Headway series that has been going for a long time is not bad for basics, although I find it a bit boring as a teacher. Have a look at their beginners and elementary books. By the way - they are in British English!
