Teaching a passage
Hey all.
I'm currently teaching boys aged between 12-15. My problem is that I only got 45 mins for each class to cover many things like grammar, vocabulary and passages. I really find it difficult to finish them all in one class especially the passage because it contains too many words that the pupils don't know and it takes long time to define every word and translate the passage for them so they can understand.
I would really appreciate any ideas of how to teach a passage in a short time? should I give the pupils handouts contain translated words of the passage ?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Teaching a passage
Can you rewrite the passages and simplify them or must you use these passages?

Unfortunately, I can't change anything because they are in a school textbook.

Re: Teaching a passage
Slow down and break up the passage. It's best to teach 2 paragraphs well than an entire text badly.
Try new ideas: students preparing stuff for homework, jigsaw reading, etc
