Teaching English for no obvous reasons (NOR)
Hi everyone: I'm in the process of writing an article ASSESSING the widespread of ELT and the unjustifed waste of time, energy, and resources. My hypothesis is that ELT is based on the fallacy that people need English in teir future careers.
I conducted an experiment whereby 130 respondents answered items linked with their education, experience with English, fields and skills English has been used, etc.
My question is if you've ever come across research touching on this issue.
My research has investigated five social groups beloNging to different professions, e.g.: civil servants, shipworkers, nurses, univirsity teachers, and secondary school teachers.
Please let me know if you kow of a research similar to mine. Many thanks. GUERN
