Default Help with concept questions

Hello everybody,

I have to teach to the class the meaning of the word 'cross-roads',
using concept questions.

Any idea?

Well, make sure thay understand the concept of a crossroads- two roads meeting and continuing, unlike a T-junction, where one ends. Ask them how many directions they can go in when they arrive at a crossroads. Can't you just draw one on the whiteboard? Does it have to be through question only?

using real pictures will support your students understanding.

Draw a line, make it straight. Say, "This is a straight line."

Draw a line, make it curve. Say, "This is a curved line."

Draw a cross. Say, "This is a cross."

Show the students a simple map. Have them point out the straight roads, the roads that run straight, then the curved roads, the roads that are curved, then the crossroads, the roads that cross.

If they're adult learners, ask them if there are crossroads in the countries they come from.

Demonstrate, "who has the right of way when two cars come upon a crossroad?" and "How does one "decide" which car goes first? (Discuss).

Ask, "what happens if drivers fail to observe the traffic laws and drive through a crossroad?"

Discuss and feed in, "the driver might get in an accident and die . . . or live and be in "critical" condition.

Sum up, a crossroad is a critical juncture or point, where a decision to go ahead or to stop and wait is decided.

Add in, "What about life in general, have you ever been at a crossroads in your career?" and "What did you decide to do?"

All the best,

Ask, "
