Default Is summer a "dead season" for you?

Hello everyone!

Dear teachers! Do you have a "dead season" in summer? If you have what do you usually do? How do you feel?

Really? Why?

For me it's opposite.I have more spare time as most of my students go on holidays. I also travel two time a summer. But I keep on working.

Though a lot of my colleagues (in Moscow, I mean) have holidays three months!!!! (June, July and August). It's because of educational system, all schools in Russia have holidays during these three months.

We get lots of students coming to the UK to do postgraduate courses, and many come for English courses first, which I teach, so though it is the university holiday time, we are busy.

Summer is "ante portas" here in Greece. At last! It's been a really tiring school year. Many classes, many young primary school children, and full commitment lead to a deep sigh of relief. My deck chair, and the relaxing, refreshing, mediterranean sea of Chalkidiki are waiting for me This -in no case- is a "dead season".

Hi Anna,

I'm going to do my TEFL course in August. What are the conditions like working in Russia? Is work reasonably easy to come by?

Thanks!

Same here. We run ESL programs during the summer months that combine classroom study with outdoor activities (river rafting, mountain biking, etc.) so July and August are our high season.

Activities together with learning a languge seem to be getting more popular nowadays- they do sound like a good idea to me. Spanish and surfing/diving courses are being advertised.
