Have you ever said something in your English Conversation Class and been met with the stone wall of silence? Have you ever felt like you've been talking to yourself even though the room is full of students? Have you ever felt like you are giving about 10 individual interviews instead of having a conversation and felt totally exhausted?
I think this has happened to all of us. Especially over here in Japan anyway. Students just don't make a reaction. Or they can't? I have often thought about this. They seem to think that English conversation is like Question and Answer - interview style. I think we have to teach them a new way of conversation. I know forming questions are important but if you look at a natural conversations you'll find that a lot of it is just making reactions to what the other person is saying and then that person giving their opinion and then after that they may ask a questions and so on.
Anyway I made a small and simple lesson of "statements" and "appropriate reactions" matching each statement. Try it out it's for FREE! Like everything on the site. You'll just have to sign in though.

Good luck and please if you have anything you might think useful to add to this lesson let me know.
Thanks.
