How young are the learners?

THe games maybe helpful. But the timing of the game in a class and the way to deliver it should be re-considered.

Hi,

I would suggest that you use visual aids while teaching. They will help them focus on the topics and it makes it easier for them to remember the lessons.

If you are not using games as a substantial part of your teaching with children then I truly believe that this is the way forward. The way I have been teaching (and many others like me), is truly revolutionary compared to what I experienced in school (not THAT long ago!)

My own experiences with this have been very rewarding, with children coming to learn from me in their free time, and wanting to continue, missing me when I was gone, etc. Also other teachers using games have reported similar great results.

Kind regards
Shelley

That depends on your purpose of being with these young learners. If your purpose is to enjoy the time, then try to create an easy and happy atmosphere. If you want to teach them some language skills, the drill is essential. Talking out of my personal experience, the group work usually is more effective then individual work. Competition sometimes is helpful. But keep in mind that competition is the means rather than the purpose of our teaching and give them rewards in the competition.
