Default English or my own language

One of the problem occurs when i teach english as a foreign language is should I use only english or my own language to explain. I know that giving explanations in english is worthwhile if it can be done successfully and without too much difficulty. however there are many occasions when it best to use my own language either because it is easier, quicker, and more convenient. But I am confusing it had better to use english more in explain or my own language. Moreover the level of my students have some limited....give me some experiences, what is the best way???english or my own language????

There's nothing wrong with translation in a monlingual class, but try to keep the students from becoming dependent on it, as this will limit their learning and also encourage them to think that everything can be directly translated. however, is there any point in trying to explain, for example, different kinds of fish when you could just tell them the names? I don't think so.
