I use "Phonics Made Easy" flashcards from Schoolzone publishing School Zone!. There may be better but these are very good at forming the basic knowledge, teaching some vocabulary, and teaching basic compounds as well. They don't teach everything, but Ive found them very effective for beginners, and fun to use too!

I don't have any personal experience with this product, but I have heard from several parents that "Hooked on Phonics" is very good.

Hooked on Phonics

I was taught to read and spell with phonics (note: this is different from phonetics, which I hate) in elementary school.
