Default Getting qualified - Confused!

Hi,

New to the forum and thought I'd pick your brains as you all seem to know what you're talking about.

I am very keen to get a decent qualification in teaching English as a second language. I plan to travel and want to be able to earn some good money as I go.

My main problem is that I do not have a degree. My grasp on the English langauge is very good and I have been writing for various publications for several years. I am disciplined, good at deadlines and not afraid to work hard but I'm worried that not having a degree will go against me.

Ideally I'd like to gain my CELTA (I'm lucky as I'm based very close to the Bell School which I understand is regarded very WELL) but I get the impression they want a degree.

Can I get around this? Or is there another qualification I could aim for that would be just as useful?

Thank you so much for your help on this.

The CELTA is very widely recognised and is enough to get a job in most countries. It can be taken by people who don't have a degree, though I don't know whether Bell have imposed their own conditions, but there are places that do.

Different countries have different rules on whether a degree is necessary as well.
