Conversations, pre-intermediate level - syllabus?
I've just started one-to-one classes with a 30-year-old. Her mother tongue is Polish, she's on a pre-intermediate level and needs English to communicate with her employer (only general language).
How would you go about it? The student wants only "conversations" as she says...

Re: Conversations, pre-intermediate level - syllabus?
What sort of job is she doing? I would base the conversations around the kind of things she will need to know for her job- check the specific vocabulary required, think of the kind of things she will have to listen to and respond. 'General' English is too vague and at that level, she won't be able to cope without having a knowledge of the terms and the types of conversations, transactions she will be doing.
