regarding Harry Smith:
I think inspiration comes as soon as students see how inspired you yourself are when teaching the topic
And hopefully that flame of inspiration will jump across and light their spirits, too

Nice answer! Be yourself and inspire your students.

Perhapsto be a good actor, to know the plot you wrote by rote. The plot is paramount ( rythms ... laughing breaks) and be yourself as much as it is possible in your acting. Their is the improvisation side as well .
Attraction , seduction towards a teacher lead me to reformulate the question into: Should the teacher be liked ?instead of how to be ? That 's just a starting not an answer for a further analysis.
I've been teaching for 15 years ( from 2 years up to 20 years old pupils)
I've always in mind this quotation from Sartres : If we didn't play ( a part) in life, we would drive crazy.

Appearance is not at all important, I hope you understood it was a big joke. Irony sometimes works best for me to express my true outlook on things. I love Jonathan Swift, much due to his irony.

Attractine appearance isn't the most important but it's rather important.A lot of students from different countries would like their teachers to have attractive appearance.

Chomat: 'should the teacher be liked' instead of 'how to be liked'? Are you really being serious?
Don't get me wrong but do you think a teacher has a chance at all if he/she isn't liked by his/her students? What you said, to me, sounds as if you were saying: it doesn't matter if the students like you as they have to obey you anyway - you are their teacher! If this is how you meant it, then I think students very quickly will lose interest in such a class and only see it as a MUST. They might still learn sth as they might be afraid of the teacher's reactions if they don't. But I doubt that the students and the teacher will have fun together. And isn't that also what teaching as well as learning is all about, to do it because you like it? - talking about inspiration earlier
