Default callan method

I am currently using the Callan Method at a school at St Nicholas College of London. I would like to hear from those of you who have experience and opinions about this method. Thanks

I watched the videos here and it didn't strike me as a particularly original method. Am I missing something? How do you feel about it?

Its not that original no.Its a variation of the Direct Method. THe diplomatic service used it to immerse their diplomats in the host language before posting. It is proving successful with students and seems far more efficient and effective than previous styles of teaching I have tried. I guess it needs to be tried.

I taught the Direct Method when I started teaching and found it very limited. How are the claims about being 4x faster assessed?

Did you really have a Polish teacher? If so, what were you taught by that teacher? I'm really curious about that.

St. Nicholas College of London www.stncollege.co.uk combines Callan sessions with other subjects and lessons using other methods. This is the best solution against weak points of the Callan method itself.

My own opinion is that the effectiveness of the method mostly depends on the quality of teachers. If a teacher is being paid less then £10 per hour it speaks for itself.

A Callan method teacher of English explains how the method functions in his video interview, taken by St. Nicholas College of London.
