Default TESOL course los angeles help

Hello,

I did a search before I posed, so please forgive me if I step on any other threads here.

I'm starting a 100 hour in class TESOL course here in Los Angeles Sept. 1st.

I don't have a degree, and have not been in school for many years.

I would like to know if there is anyone that can give me any information on what I can look forward to in class, as I would like to prepare myself a little before the course starts.

Thank you everyone...

Haven't they given you a pre-course reading list?

Try some basic books that are used on many courses like Jeremy Harmer's How to Teach English and also egt stuck into a decent grammar like Michael Swan.

Ok,

So I'm going to look into the 2 books that were suggested.

Could anyone that has taken this type of in class course certification give me an idea of what to expect on the first couple days of class.

I know that I can read the books, but it will still give me no idea what the actually classroom will be like.

Anyone.. any info?

Thanks.. again sorry to bug everyone with this.

It varies from course to course, but the trainers often try to stress how intensive the course will be and so on. It is always a good idea to just accept what they say and do things their way- many courses, like the CELTA< do not favour creativity but prefer you to do things their way.

Question Re: TESOL course los angeles help

you will be required to write and speak at a post-secondary education level-- quite difficult for someone who hasn't been in school "for a few years"

Could you tell us which school you are attending. . .if you are in LSI you are NOT going to pass TESOL.

Hum..

Is that the consensus here?

That without abiltiy to write at a "Post" secondary level of eduction I would fail?

It's not LSI. I see the requirements to take an LSI TESOL certification course is a minimum of a Bachelors Degree.

I called and spoke with the company running the course, and explained my issues. They didn't seem to be concerned, but did say that I would need to work hard. ( I don't want to give the company name publicly, but if messaged privately I would respond. )

Thank you everyone for all the information.
