Dear teachers,
Does anyone have ideas for a technology/communications related lesson or series of lessons for 9-10 year olds?
Thanks.
Melanie
I would recommend my own Top 5. Kinda family feud game where students in teams (with a worksheet) try to guess the top 5 surveyed answers. Many levels but start with elementary. I also have ToysrUS Price is right which might be suitable too.....plus all the Fling the Teachers which you yourself can make the games to suit your students.
Find out more, click EFL Classroom 2.0 and then resources, especially powerpoint games....many others.
Hope this helps. They also might like the Transl8it.com games but might be too old for them. but also many ppt guessing games like Who / what / where...which are suitable..
David
Hi Melanie,
Have you thought about making a simple animated movie with the children? All you need is a digital camera (to take photos), Windows Movie Maker (free with Windows XP - I'm not sure about the others) and some toys or props. This way you can teach children about communication and technology together. It's very easy and fun to do but it works best if you keep it simple. You could also include information on another topic/subject as part of your movie and you have at once integrated more than one lesson into your project. (We used to do this with Indigenous children in my old school and they loved planning the story, creating the scenes and taking the pictures. They were very proud of the finished product when we showed it to the rest of the school and their parents.)
If you're interested in finding out more about how to do this I have an instruction sheet near the bottom on my site http://www.thejemsite.com/index.php?...&id=49&Itemid= which will show you how to create the animation with Windows Movie Maker.
Or you can try this site (not my site) which is an example of an animation using props instead of drawn pictures (much easier)
