Would someone please help me with an example of a proper grammatical anwser to a question?
Question as follows,
Provide an explanation of errors,in grammatical terms,to the writer of these signs.
Doctors office,Rome
SPECIALIST IN WOMEN AND OTHER DISEASES
No it is not a joke!
Thanks if you can help!
Women should be the adjective of certain types of (deseases-I donīt think so) ailments (maybe) I think the correct sign should read
Doctor specalised in womenīs ailments and other illnesses
SPECIALIST IN WOMEN's AND OTHER DISEASES
It has lost the essential possessive that indicates this doctor deals with both gynaecological [women's] disease and other disease.
It would be better as "Specialist in female disorders and other diseases" or simply "Consultant Gynaecologist" - it is an odd phrasing to say you are a specialist and then apparently are treating a wide range of medical problems.
Thank you for your help with that question! I am a teacher taking an ESL training course. I have several signs to correct and there is one more I am really struggling with, would you mind giving me your opinion again please? This one is from an information book about using a hotel air conditioner in Japan:
"If you want condition of warm air in your room, please control yourself."
There are several errors in this one, but I don't know how to explain them grammatically.
Thank you for your help, would you please be able to help me with one more? It's from an information booklet about using a hotel air conditioner in Japan:
"If you want condition of warm air in your room, please control yourself"
I know there are several errors in this sentence, but I'm not sure how to explain them grammatically!
