Default How to Teach Writing

I would like to know how I can teach better. I need suggestion on ways to teach my students how to write a composition. They are non native speakers, they do not use the language in their daily life and they cannot construct proper sentences. They are going to sit for a public examination end of this year and I wonder if there is any way I can help them in these few months in order for them to get good grade. They have vocabulary problem too.

Please advise.

Give them a list of the vocabulary words to use for a writing exercise. Keep the words to one subject area: computer, paper, write, friends, pictures, email. Have them construct sentences using these words.
